We want others to know what's great about being Welsh, and we want them to join us in our celebrations. Every nation is unique, and each has their own way of commemorating this. Wales Week in New York is our moment, and we plan to use this as a stepping stone to help raise the profile of everything that is awesome about Wales.
In 2019, a Wales Week New York revival was launched and funded by Welsh-American businessman, Ty Francis MBE. This calendar of events around St. David's Day, galvanizing existing Welsh communities in New York City, Wales Week New York hopes to build a positive momentum across the city that is distinctly about Wales. It's an opportunity for organisations in Wales to promote their products and services, and develop new New York-based audiences, partnerships and connections with the best in Welsh business, music, art, food, tourism, heritage, sport, public life and media. Together with Marc Walby and Gwilym Roberts-Harry his fellow New York Welsh co-founders (New York’s largest Welsh social and business network) Wales Week New York will bring the New York Welsh community together, support business and the arts, and provide networking and support for those business overseas wanting to expand the US.
Wales Week in New York was a natural addition to an already successful initiative in the UK as Wales Week in London, founded in 2015 by two Welsh-based business people, Dan Langford and Mike Jordan - importantly though, the initiative could only achieve what is has because of the tremendous response from the Welsh communities across London, and the incredible support they received from various partners and sponsors. Wales Week in London also owes a huge debt of thanks to the Welsh Government and the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales - working collaboratively and with a shared ambition to promote a modern Wales around the world. Dan and Mike would love your support and input, this initiative must aim to benefit the whole of Wales and in any capacity possible; for that we need more activities, and louder and more diverse events. We want to make as much Welsh noise as possible and blow the minds of everyone across London.
Wales Week New York ring NASDAQ's Closing Bell with its founder Ty Francis MBE, Actor Matthew Rhys and members of the New York Welsh.
